Shankh Mudra

Position:

Right hand Thumb to be placed at the center  of the left hand,cover right hand thumb with left hand fingers, cover left hand fingers using right hand finger & left thumb tip with right hand finger tips (mostly index &mid finger tips).

Time:

No specific time to perform this mudra any suitable time in a day to do this.(not after meals)
Two yoga asanas are recommended to get max benefits Sukhasan & Vajrasana.
For good results minimum 10 mins at a time.
Time can be extended upto 45 mins.
Also 15 mins 3 sittings are also advisibel.

Benefits:
  • Keeps people healthy.
  • Help keep the nervous system active and healthy.
  • Helps keep the naval centre in order.
  • Very beneficial for disorders related tonsils and throat related issues.
  • Brings hormones in balance keeping thyroid gland healthy.
  • Gives sweetness to voice.

Precautions
If you start getting weaker or fatter means mudra effects Thyroid glands. Avoid practice this mudra. 
It may lead to Hypo or Hyper activity of Thyroid glands.

Aditya Mudra

Position:

Thumb tip to be placed at the base of the ring finger, while other fingers stretched out.
Ring finger indicates Earth/Prithvi.
Thumb represents Agni/Fire.

Ring finger base indicates Prithvi element, when Agni reaches the base of Prithvi there is  growth of both the elements.
Results are improvement in stamina & weight gain.

Time:

45 mins regular practice

Benefits:

Remarkable weight gain when practicing regularly for 45 mins followed by Pran Mudra.

Helps minimize yawning during meditation.
Helps minimize sneezing also.
Morning sneezing problems can be corrected by this mudra practice.

Meao Mudra

Position:

Bring Mid finger & Ring finger tips both together to the center of the palm, while other finger stretched out.

Time:

30 to 45 mins daily.

Benefits:

Blood pressure control
High as well as low blood pressure regulator.
Normalise Blood pressure with regular practice.

Apan Mudra

Excretory system improves.

Excretory means removing unwanted unnecessary material from the body fluids helps maintain an internal chemical homeostasis.


Position:

Put together thumb middle finger hand ring fingertips together while other two fingers stretched out upwards.

Time:

5 to 45 minutes is the duration or 15 minutes thrice a day.

When needed you do it.

Benefits:

  • Cleaning parts of the body.

  • Strengthening the body system.

  • Toxemia is removed from the body thus purifiers the body.

  • If urine flow is less or irregular, Regulates urine flow and perspiration.

  • Vomiting cures.

  • If Performed with Akash mudra, it helps keep teeth healthy.

  • If performed with Prana mudra, it helps in eyes, nose, ears and mouth related problems.

  • Cures menstruation problems.

  • Reduces hand, heart, leg and urine burning sensation.


Apan Vayu Mudra

Position: 

Put the index finger tip at the base of the thumb and middle finger and ring finger tips touch with the thumb tip, keep the little finger extended out.


Time:  

Three times 15 mins everyday or as and when needed.

Benefit: 

  • You can say it's a blood pressure medicine.

  • Legs and hands perspiration removes effectively.

  • Unwanted useless things removed from the body.

  • Gas trouble cures.

  • Effective on tooth ache.

  • Effectively balances body temperature.

  • Also helpful for acidity cure.

  • Effective on headache also.

Pran (Life) Mudra.

Improves power of life, it's a mudra of life.


Position: 
Tip of the little finger and ring finger tips touch to the thumb tip, while keeping the remaining two fingers stretched out.
Time:
No time is specified for this mudra, one can do as per his or her comfort level. You can practice this anytime.

Benefits:
  • Reduces weakness.
  • Clamps in the blood vessels reduce.
  • One feels more active and energetic with its regular practice.
  • Also improves immunity.
  • Very beneficial for eye related diseases.
  • Fatigue and vitamin deficiency reduces.

Vaayan (Air) Mudra

Vyaan means Air. When the air current in the veins, arteries and the lungs starts moving fast is called blood pressure. Vyana / Vayu is a blood circulator in the body.

Position: 
Index finger tip and mid finger tip both together to be placed on the tip of the thumb & apply some pressure on both the fingertips with the thumb tip, while remaining two fingers to be kept stretched out.
Time:  
After doing Pran mudra for 15 minutes, 50 minutes two or three times daily helps control blood pressure.
Benefit: 
  • Vyaan (Air-Vayu) circulation in the body or the speed of the air circulation regulats.
  • Balances both low and high blood pressures.
  • Very beneficial for those who are less active.
  • Reduces dullness and improves enthusiasm.
  • Also corrects slowness of thoughts.
  • Significant change in perception can be observed.
  • Overcomes Excessive sleep, drowsiness.
  • Can avert sunstroke.

Jalodar nashak Mudra

Jal means Water, Udar meaning Stomach.

Kidney Mudra


Jalodar nashak (Dropsy) Mudra.

Controls excess water in the stomach. The name itself signifies the cure of disease Dropsy.


Position: Place the little finger tip on the thumb base and press the little finger gently with thumb and let the other three fingers stretch out.

Time: 45 minutes a day or 3 sets of 15 mins each.
Benefits:
Helps reduce excess water in the body.
Helps balance water metabolism.
Helps balance water logging in the body.
Elephantitis can be cured.
Swelling due to excess water in any part of the body i.e face,hands, legs can be cured.
Excessive salivation can be cure
Watery eyes
Running nose
Hyperacidity
Diarrhoea (loose motions)
Excessive menses are balanced.
Excessive urination is cured.
Pleurisy, diffusion in the joint is cured.

Who should not perform this mudra:
Those with dehydration should not perform this mudra.

Kidney Mudra

Very effective on kidney disorders.

Position: the ring finger tip and little finger tip both together to be placed on base of the thumb & apply some pressure on both the fingers with the thumb remaining two fingers to be kept stretched out.
Time:  45 minutes a day or 3 sets of 15 mins each.

Benefit
Very very helpful in Kidney problems.
Helps cure Dropsy.
Effective in running nose.
Gives immediate relief from throat pain.
Cure for phlegm (कफ) problem in the throat and in the lungs.

Surya 🌞 Mudra


Position: Tip of the ring finger to touch at the root of thumb and press the finger with the thumb when the other three fingers are stretched out.

Time: 
5 to 15 minutes twice a day.

Benefits:
Helps reduce cholesterol.
Helps reduce weight.
It also can reduce anxiety by regular practice.
Indigestion problems also can be corrected.

Varun (Wind) Mudra

Position: Touch the fingertips of Thumb and little finger, other three fingers stretched out.

Time: Daily 40 to 60 minutes, until necessary.

Benefit: 
Water content in the body balances.
Controls all the diseases come due to lack of water.
Blood clarity retained.
Effective in prevention of Gastroenteritis and Muscle shrinkage.

Aakash Mudra 

Position: Tip of middle finger and tip of thumb join together, press gently, keep other finger Straight.

While performing this mudra one has to sit. Keep your both hands on your knees and palms should face upwards towards the sky.


Time: Sit in this position for 5 to 10 minutes.


Benefits: 

  • Excitement and energy levels will go up.

  • Strengthens bones.

  • Tooth ache will reduce.

  • In heart related diseases it is very beneficial.

  • Pain in the ear will reduce.

  • Annoyance will reduce.


Shoonya Mudra

Position: touch your mid fingertip on the Mount of Venus (Mount of Venus. : a mount constituted by the large development of the hand at the base of the thumb) & apply some pressure in the centre of the mid finger with your thumb (As shown in photograph).


Time: Daily 40 to 60 minutes practice of shunya mudra until one gets cured from the disease.

Benefits: 

  • lt helps minimise dullness in the body.

  • It is a beneficiary for the deaf.

  • Also useful for mentally challenged (but not for inborn ones).

  • It is observed that it reduces earache in 4 or 5 minutes.

Gyan Mudra & Vayu Mudra


GYAN (KNOWLEDGE) MUDRA

As in the name indicates its a mudra of knowledge it's going to enhance the knowledge.


Time: whenever you have time you can practice this mudra by sitting, standing or lying on bed. No specific time duration for this.


Method: Touch Thumb and index finger tips with each other. Keep the rest of 3 fingers stretched out.


Benefits:Thumb tip is the centre of two glands pituitary and endocrine. By pressing the centre of the thumb by index finger tip these two glands start working actively. 


VAYU (AIR) MUDRA

As the name itself indicates its  a mudra regulating Air (Gas).


Time: Practice at least for two months to get results. At least 45 minutes of practice reduces the disease severity in 12 to 24 hours.


Method: Touch index finger at the base of thumb, apply gentle press using the thumb on index finger while keeping the other 3 fingers straight.


Benefits: It will help prevent all the problems/diseases in the human body that happen due to Air(Gas).

Mudra functions are easy to practice on daily basis, after knowing it's benefits & power to improve health.

Time

  • Safe practice of mudra, 15/20 minutes sittings 2 to 3 times daily or single settings of 30 to 45 minutes, unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

  • Digestive disorder Mudras should be practiced after half and hours of meals. These are certain exceptions.

  • Performing Sadhana in the morning is the best time, around sunrise.

Posture

🙏

  • Just touching fingers is sufficient, do not apply pressure unless specified. 

  • For best results mudras should be practiced with both hands, Unless specified.

  • Movement of fingers or arms to be avoided.

  • Unused fingers try and keep straight but it's not hard and fast.

  • One can perform mudra while walking, sitting or lying down also.

Functional factors

  • Body: perform the mudra at ease & body should be relaxed.

  • Mind: start with taking few dip breaths, try to breath in rhythm and keep mind relaxed.

  • Belief: the very most important factor is Have faith. It can be practiced side by side with any other therapy basically its complementary therapy.

  • Dhyan (Meditation): if one meditates while practicing mudras, efficiency and the effect of mudra will increase cent percent.

Mudras: very important things to know

Respective tattvas started getting balanced inside the body when tip of the thumb joins the tip of the other fingers.
Respective tattvas get increased in body when the tip of the thumb joins the base of the other fingers.
Respective tattvas reduces when the tip of the fingers brought to the base of the thumb.
  1. Anyone can do Hasta mudras.
  2. For good results the hands should face upwards while doing the mudras.
  3. Mudras when done by both hands are more beneficial.
  4. Effect happens when mudra done by right hand it effects left side of the body and vice versa.
  5. Just the tip of the fingers are used when doing mudra. Pressure is not needed. Try and keep other fingers straight.
  6. No side effects of mudra.
  7. Even while someone is on medication this can be done.
  8. It is observed anger reduces, increases the peace of mind & helps come out of the addictions. These are the added benefits besides physical health.
  9. 4 mudras to do Daily to improve health significantly. The mudras are as follows….

Prana mudra. (Increases vitality & activates muladhara chakra)

What is Mudra (Gesture)?


Channelize & expresses cosmic energy within the mind and body. 
Gesture is Mudra.

Panchtatva means five elements.

  1. Earth
  2. Water
  3. Fire

When a gesture or Mudra are part of Yogic posture is Yogic Mudra.

What is Hast Mudra?

Using hand Gestures or Mudras are performed are Hasta Mudras.

What is Raj Mudra?

The Royal seal is used by kings to authenticate documents.

What is Mudra?

In Sanskrit Mudras meaning coins, Mudra is made out of precious,semi precious metals.

5 Tatva or Elements are marked by 5 fingers.

  • Thumb: Fire
  • Index Finger: Air
  • Middle Finger: Space
  • Ring Finger: Earth
  • Small Finger: Water
Our inner feeling expressions are Mudras.

Very important element is Fire.
Fire element becomes weak when different ailments start coming to the body.

Fire element (thumb) when joins with other elements (other fingers) energize, enliven, vitalizes other elements also.
